Project Overview

The eavestroughs on this West Rouge home had accumulated a dense layer of leaves, evergreen needles and decomposing organic material. The buildup was restricting the drainage channel and could have caused water to overflow during heavy rainfall. The project focused on thoroughly removing the compacted debris from the eavestrough by hand. Careful roof access was required to work along the full gutter line while protecting the surrounding shingles, roof edge and exterior property. Once the larger material was removed, the remaining loose debris and residue were cleared to reopen the drainage path. This helps rainwater move more effectively toward the downspouts rather than collecting against the roofline or spilling over the edge. All removed leaves, needles and organic material were collected and cleared from the property. The completed service left the eavestrough clean, open and better prepared to manage rainfall.

Challenges

  • The eavestrough contained a substantial buildup of evergreen needles, leaves and decomposing organic material that had settled tightly along the gutter channel.
  • The work required access from the roof, with careful positioning along the sloped shingles and narrow roof edge. The debris also needed to be removed without damaging the eavestrough, gutter supports, shingles or surrounding landscaping below.
  • Because compacted material can conceal additional buildup, the full gutter line needed to be checked and cleared rather than removing only the visible surface debris.

Our Solutions

  • The eavestrough was cleaned systematically along the roofline, with accumulated leaves, needles and organic matter removed by hand in manageable sections.
  • Compacted material was loosened carefully to avoid placing unnecessary pressure on the gutter or its supports. Once the heavier debris was removed, the remaining loose material was cleared to expose the bottom of the channel and restore a more open drainage path.
