Project Overview
This established Lawrence Park property uses a row of ornamental beech trees as a natural privacy screen between neighbouring homes. Over time, new growth had begun extending into the narrow passage and toward the home's stairs, railing and outdoor living area.
KCG Outdoor Services completed selective pruning throughout the screen rather than heavily reducing or shearing the trees. Individual branches were assessed and carefully removed or shortened where necessary to improve clearance while maintaining the density and natural form that make the planting valuable for privacy.
The objective was to create additional separation between the vegetation and the home without opening unnecessary sightlines between neighbouring properties. Maintaining this balance is especially important with established privacy plantings, where overly aggressive pruning can significantly change both appearance and screening.
Following the work, the passage beside the home was considerably more open and accessible while the ornamental trees continued to provide a substantial green privacy barrier.

- At the same time, branches had begun extending toward the stairs, railing, home and narrow access area. The confined working space and proximity to finished outdoor features required precise pruning rather than broad mechanical trimming.

- Individual branches were selectively assessed and pruned to establish appropriate clearance around the home and passage while retaining the overall density of the privacy screen.
- Rather than uniformly cutting back the entire planting, pruning focused on growth that was encroaching into usable space. This maintained the natural appearance of the ornamental trees while improving access and preserving privacy between the neighbouring properties.
